NHS TROJAN ATHLETICS

As part of a tradition-rich educational experience, Northwestern High School provides coeducational athletic programs that develop students in grades 9-12 through teamwork, perseverance, discipline, and sportsmanship. Whether competing on the football field, basketball court, track, or tennis court, Northwestern athletes strive to represent the purple and gold with excellence—both in performance and in character.

Northwestern High School competes as a Class AAAAA (5A) school under the South Carolina High School League (SCHSL). Known statewide for its strong athletic history, Northwestern has captured multiple state championships across various sports, including football, soccer, track, baseball, and cross country. The school is proud to have produced nationally recognized athletes and professionals such as Jeff Burris, Rick Sanford, Mason Rudolph, Cordarrelle Patterson, Sean Barnette, Benjamin Watson, Ryan Hinson, Justin Worley, and countless others.

From championship-caliber teams to developing lifelong values, Northwestern offers a dynamic environment where students can pursue athletic success while growing as leaders.

MISSION & VALUES

The mission of Northwestern High School is to empower students through academic, athletic, and personal growth so they are prepared to succeed in college, career, and life. In athletics, this mission is carried out through an unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, and opportunity. We believe athletics is a platform to teach life skills such as resilience, leadership, accountability, and respect.

Our student-athletes are challenged to be their best both on and off the field—representing their families, their school, and the Rock Hill community with pride. At Northwestern, we value the pursuit of greatness not just in trophies, but in the character and sportsmanship that define a true Trojan. TRADITION NEVER GRADUATES!
